Workshop on Solidworks

A one day Workshop on Solidworks was held in Campus on 13 Feb 2017. The same was organised by Mr. Vijay Singh from Aptron India Pvt. Ltd.

Solidworks is a solid modeling computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) computer program that runs on Microsoft Windows. Focus was laid on its ease to use and also it being an affordable software that allows engineers to create 3D CAD models and designs. Roughly 3 million engineers and designers and more than 200,000 companies used Solidworks as of 2015.

Emphasis was laid on the fact that with Solidworks, one can design enclosures for prototypes/circuits as well as mechanical parts that one can later 3D print and use.

Solidworks also partners with third party developers to add functionality in niche market applications like finite element analysis, circuit layout, tolerance checking, etc. SolidWorks has also licensed its 3D modeling capabilities to other CAD software vendors, notably ANVIL.
