20th IEEE Delhi Section Quarterly Meet held at Campus

SBIT organized the 20th IEEE Delhi Section Quarterly Meet on 6th April, 2013 for the first time ever in the campus.

Quarterly Meets are an integral part of IEEE Student Branches. The agenda of the meet was to gather all IEEE Student Branches from all over the Delhi Section under one roof. The Student Meet provided an opportunity to meet students from other branches and to share their experiences. The event witnessed the participation of IEEE members from various renowned universities and institutes like DTU, NSIT, HMR Institute of Technology, Amity School of Engineering, PDM College of Engineering. The meet comprised of three sessions. This meet delivered a plethora of events varying from guest lectures to fun filled activities and games. TechBlitz, BrainWaves, TechTrix, LAN Gaming and many more events were lined up for the students.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr. R.K Sharma, Director - SBIT, who revealed the mission and scope of the conference.

It was an august gathering with the presence of distinguished guests including Hon’ble Chief Guest Dr. V.R. Singh, Immediate Past Chairperson, IEEE Delhi Section; Secretary, IEEE India Council, Chair- IEEE IMS/EMBS Delhi Chapter and Chairperson- Fellow Nomination and Awards Committee (Delhi Section), and Guest of Honor Prof. N. S. Gill, Department of Computer Science and Applications, M.D.U, Rohtak.

Dr. V.R. Singh in his address enlightened the students by mentioning that IEEE opens the door to opportunities that will help one to develop professional identity in IEEE’s designated fields of interest and in addition to accessing a range of membership benefits, one can make global connections with people who can help along the targeted career path through IEEE’s international community of members and volunteers. The keynote address made everyone realize the benefits of IEEE membership.

Prof. N.S. Gill said that engineering is behind everything. Engineers influence every aspect of modern life and it binds us together irrespective of anything. He mentioned that the future engineers have potential and the will power to think, innovate and grow; they just have to look beyond the door step. He made students aware that the industries are looking for Cyber Security and also looking forward for the emerging technologies such as Cloud Computing. He also appreciated the efforts of the institute for organizing such an interactive session for all the students from various Student Branches.

Several group building activities such as Icebreaker, The Wave etc. were organized for the students. The event witnessed a huge gathering. The whole Institute seemed to be buzzing around with fun and frolic throughout the day. Hon’ble Chief Guest Dr. V.R. Singh, Ms. Sushil Yadav, Chairperson-SBIT, Mr. Rajesh Yadav, Vice Chairman-SBIT, Dr. R.K. Sharma, Director-SBIT along with Prof. Jagdish Prasad, Director Research - SBIT presented accolades to the winners of various events that were organized.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Pooja Chauhan, IEEE Branch Counselor, Student Branch SBIT. The students expressed their delight while improving their own knowledge from various sessions and key note addresses.
