EXPLORICA 2010 held at Campus

India is a country with different colours , religions, cultures, traditions and 29 states. All these ingredients constitute one vibrant nation, “The Incredible India”.

It was the theme of the Annual Sports and Cultural Fest of SBIT – EXPLORICA 2010.

 

Explorica, as the name suggests means ‘to explore’. It is an annual festival celebrated to discover the hidden talents of the students.

It was a two-day bonanza which was filled with the sports, cultural events and fun & frolic.

There were Inter College matches of Cricket, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Table Tennis, Arm Wrestling, Carom and the few. These matches were held from 19th Oct’10 to 28th Oct’10.

The power of India was reflected with the presence of Mr. Sushil Kumar, Olympic Medalist, CWG 2010 Medalist & World Champion Wrestler and Mr.Anil Kumar, CWG 2010 Medalist as Special Guests on 28 October 2010. The winners of the sports events were given medals for individual performances and the teams were presented with trophies which were given by Mr. Sushil Kumar and Mr. Anil Kumar along with the Chairperson, Ms. Sushil Yadav.

On the same day  Fun Zone events took place which included Antakshari, DumbCharade, Funny IQ Test, 45 Seconds to fame, Extempore, Nukkad Nattika, Skipping rope, Spice it up and Tambola.

Few technical events like Spell Bee, Debate and Toggle were also held. The cultural events which were conducted on 29th Oct’10, comprised of Group Dance (Rodeo De Casino), Solo Dance, Solo Singing, Plays and War of Bands, set the stage echoing with the sound of music and the foot tapping to its beat.

 

On 29 October 2010, Ms. Santosh Yadav, Twice Everest Summiteer,  was the Chief Guest and Mr. Yogendra Kumar, CWG 2010 Medalist was the Guest of Honor. Ms. Santosh was the first woman in the world to climb Mt. Everest twice in a single year. She was delighted by the performance of the students.

 

Many of the guest colleges like BMIET, LPU and PIET were present on the occasion. The show was appreciated for the music signifying a unique experience and sharing new kind of knowledge.

In solo dance, a participant from PIET was awarded the first prize. While in the War of bands from LPU bagged the first position. To conclude the show, the band representing SBIT, “GOONJ” gave a tribute to Incredible India vibrating with the sound of Vande Mataram and the whole college sang to the beat and it was an invigorating moment for the SBITians.

The show was followed by the prize distribution. The winners were honored by the Chairperson, Ms. Sushil Yadav, Director, Prof. M S Rana and Ms. Santosh Yadav along with the Mr. Yogendra Kumar.

 

As the evening faded into darkness the Institute was glittering with the festive lights reflecting beauty which is a joy forever.
