Shaping Careers – 2010 held at SBIT

For two days the SBIT campus came alive with discussion and expertise sessions with the greatest of the great maestros in the field of education and consultants to interact and guide the students to seek the best after their baccalaureate. Shaping Careers-2010  held on 9 and 10 September 2010 had renowned speakers from every corner of India.

The  students exposed to a number of challenges had an opportunity to hear and relish the truth of a volatile business environment. The events of the day unfolded with the arrival of the Chief Guest Padamshree Dr. Pritam Singh fondly known as a management ‘Guru’ who has devoted his life to the development of management education in India and abroad. He is the former Director IIM Lucknow and MDI Gurgaon and presently Professor of Eminence in MDI Gurgaon. He is the Board member of SBIT & SBIM and Chairman of Academic Advisory Council of SBIT & SBIM.

His distinguished services were acknowledged by the country when the President of India conferred on him Padamshree in the year 2003. He spoke about the Institution and accredited their efforts by saying that education is not the acquisition of information although important or acquisition of technical skills. It is the development of that bent of mind & attitude of reason, to become responsible corporates and citizens.

As Special Guest, Dr. Asha Bhandarkar who is currently the Hero Honda Leadership Chair Professor at MDI Gurgaon, expounded the need of an environment to be free from anxiety pointed out that attitude of teachers was crucial and needed to accept change in keeping with the times maintaining a fine balance between traditions and innovation.

Mr. Anand Kumar, Director of India Oil Corporation (Research & Development) had been the Guest of Honour felt the need of training facilities for the students to gain experience and exposure leading to intellectual & professional development. The august gathering had noteworthy group of eminent speakers. Dr. Harsh Verma Professor at FMS and an esteemed member of the Advisory Council of SBIM. His deep involvement in the training programs made him a teacher reckoned for his strategies for success. His recent training program was held at FMS titled ‘Branding the Future,’ which was organized by Hutchinson Essar Ltd. Mr. Pranav Chaturvedi, known to the corporate sector as powerful speaker and is amongst the very few speakers who can speak on financial & marketing/sales analyzing the worth of disseminate skill based on financial education. The events of the career counseling summit rolled on to the second day recognized and reputed speakers attended the summit meeting and expressed their mind to enable the young learners to imbibe and be successful in everyday dealings with the “Gurus” of the professional world. Ms. Golda Malhotra represented ‘Campus France’ to help the students with information to obtain requisite knowledge to travel abroad for higher studies. She encouraged the students to be gracefully knowledgeable, developing for gathering heights as they proceed professionally. Mr. Piyush Gupta of EKO India Finance Service, while pursuing B.Tech founded his first company, ‘Slendek R & D’ and made it profitable. His invigorating speech left the students wondering and many were confident of being new entrepreneurs while graduating. The mega event had been the benchmark for the college. Ms. Chairperson, Sushil Yadav along with Vice Chairman Mr. Rajesh Yadav were delighted and praised the august gathering saying its been an eventful occasion to be remembered and to lead the Institution to greater heights. Prof. M.S.Rana, Director, SBIT advocated the need of motivational summits not only to erudite but to be living illustrations to the students to trot the professional world. The students were satisfied and acclaimed and acknowledged the career Summit 2010 to be a redeeming feature redefining their visions for the best to gleam and acquire.
